Jessica O’Connor

Jessica O'ConnorJessica O’Connor is a 4th year graduate student  studying galaxies with high mid-infrared colors. These galaxies  are interesting because they may indicate the presence of an active galactic nucleus, Wolf-Rayet stars and/or extreme star formation. She is currently working on two projects concerning these galaxies:

1. A census of the luminosity and stellar mass range of these galaxies in the local universe in order to determine if high mid-infrared colors are common in low mass galaxies

2. An examination of combined mid-infrared, ultraviolet, H alpha and far-infrared color maps of nearby galaxies in order to excitation mechanism behind the high mid-infrared colors
