Dr. Peter Becker

pete_spacsDr. Becker’s current research activities focus on the fundamental mechanisms that power the production of high-energy particles and radiation in the vicinity of compact objects such as black holes and neutron stars, which can have a profound influence on the surrounding environments. Specific research topics include the structure of black hole accretion disks and associated outflows; general X-ray and gamma-ray emission mechanisms; radiative and dynamical properties of accreting X-ray pulsars; trans-relativistic particle acceleration; mathematical astrophysics; and applied mathematics.

Dr. Becker is working with SPACS doctoral students Jason Lee, John Kroon, Tiffany Lewis, Dave Baughman, and Juan Luna.
