The Extragalactic Research Group (ERG) at George Mason University  is part of the School of Physics, Astronomy and Computational Sciences.  Group members include a large group of faculty, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate researchers, and affiliate researchers from the DC metro area.  We conduct an active research program that centers on galaxy formation and evolution, supermassive black holes and their connection to host galaxies, and the physics of active galactic nuclei. Our research uses a broad range of both ground- and space-based observatories, including Chandra, XMM-Newton, HST, VLA, Arecibo, and Gemini.
